Gothic - $12.99 Director Ken Russell applies his trademark excess to this surreal, experimental examination of the creative dementia which shaped Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley’s Frankenstein. The story is embellished from events which allegedly took place at the Swiss villa of Lord Byron (Gabriel Byrne) on the night of June 16, 1816. Byron’s guests include poet Percy Shelley (Julian Sands) and his future wife Mary (Natasha Richardson); Mary’s half-sister Claire (Myriam Cyr) and Byron’s leech-happy personal physician Dr. John Polidori (Timothy Spall). Byron promises them a night of horror like only a mad poet can deliver — after partaking of laudanum and other hallucinogens, the guests tell ghost stories while exploring the dark corridors of his home. From here, Russell dives headlong into madness, discarding plot structure in favor of fever-dream setpieces in which the guests confront living manifestations of their own fears and insecurities — creative, mortal and sexual, among others. The raging Romantics are also given to lengthy discourse on the nature of fear and the fine line between creative genius and insanity; by the film’s end, viewers may find themselves wondering the same thing about the director. Those who may prefer a more subdued speculation on the same theme should seek out Ivan Passer’s Haunted Summer. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi |

Fallen $5.62 The Daredevil soundtrack provided a nice boost for this previously unknown quartet from Little Rock, Arkansas. Evanescence’s songs “My Immortal” and the imposing “Bring Me to Life” are clear standouts in the film, mainly because they work so well with the dramatic, eerie undertones of the storyline. They reappear here on the band’s debut, alongside a selection of similarly brooding tracks that evo… |
Consuming Dark Chocolate Has A Beneficial Result On Eyesight
Everyone is aware that eating plenty of fruit and vegetables is good for your eye health and could help to ward off some eye diseases. However, do you know that eating chocolate is also beneficial for visual acuity and could give you better eyesight?
The outcome of a recent study showed clearly that folks who consumed dark chocolate experienced an improvement of their eyesight. The enhancement essentially involved motion detection and vision sharpness, a couple of the visual abilities that usually go down after long hours of near eye work, as well as, as a person grows older.
Hence why is dark chocolate good for eyesight? The favorable effect of chocolate on visual acuity is due to some of the special substances it contains. In fact, the same nutrients can be discovered in wine and green tea also. Moreover, these nutrients have a powerful anti-oxidant action and therefore not only provide temporary positive effects on sight but minimize the damage of free radicals and slow down aging.
However, fostering good eye health and probably enhancing visual acuity naturally through a healthy nutrition plan only becomes possible if you stick to the three basic rules of a vision-friendly nutrition plan: balance, variety and moderation. While eating chocolate has a helpful effect on visual acuity, eating too much dark chocolate is most likely bad for eye health and for your overall health. In spite of everything, chocolate is regarded as a high-sugar food and the quick elevation of blood levels of glucose sugar after the consumption of such foods has a detrimental effect on the eyes.
The best way to discover more on the way that chocolate could help you improve your vision naturally, what quantities you need to consume, and which kind of chocolate is the best one for this goal is to check out the document titled Improve Eyesight Naturally.
